An atomic clock gives time in nano to micro second accuracy. This accuracy is crucial for operations of power stations, waterboards, LHC, weather station and many more. Without this accuracy the life we live is impossible. The question is how can be bring this technology to our day to day accessories like our personal computers, mobile phones, tablets and etc.... How can we integrate it into our devices so we don't have to depend on expensive and resource hungry methods. With a solution for this in mind a group of clever engineers in Facebook developed an open source PCIe card which houses an actual atomic clock inside.

Why we need it? ๐Ÿค”

Over passed decades data accuracy, signal delay, security and many factors consumed most of the computing power we had. Data centres had to deal this very commonly meanwhile general public like you and me had no worry about this but this situation is changing. The amount of data processed in and out by a person is mind blowing these days. For huge data centres processing this much of data is nothing because they are built for it but our daily devices like mobile phones, laptops like devices aren't that capable of handling this much of data as they do. Because of this most of our computing potential is wasted to compensate things like data latency, maintaining data security and many more. With this technology we can dramatically reduces the impact of these things in our lives. This could change everything from improving the quality for streaming, exponentially reducing data latency, enhancing online data security and many more.

I understand what you're wondering, building new devices to support this technology will take more time and this is not for our generation but the truth is surprisingly no! Every device we own has the necessary hardware to work with it. All they need is an accurate pulse from this card and we are ready to go.

This kind of technology will change the way we interact with computers. With all this we can say that is a revolution in computer industry.
